The Academy was founded in September 1978 by its principal, Janine Clark, as her Mother closed "The Grace Freeman School of Dancing" in the March of 1978, Janines Aunt Kath was also a dance teacher and examiner with the AAD.

Our aim is to provide enjoyable tuition in a safe and friendly environment.

Teaching in the subjects of Tap, Ballet, Modern, Lyrical, Jazz, Acrobatic and Musical Theatre; for pleasure, examinations, medal tests, displays, shows and festivals.

Children are accepted from the age of 2 1/2 years and at the other end of the scale classes are available for adults too.

Our parents welcome the "old school" style of teaching. Dance is a disciplined art and is vital, this shows exceptional standard achieved by all who dance at the LAD.

We have danced in Disneyland Paris, Her Majesty's Theatre and The Royal Albert Hall in London (to name a few). The school has a 3rd generation of teachers with Janines daughter Victoria teaching too.

We were honoured to be chosen from all AAD accredited schools nationally to work on a new ballet syllabus which has formed the AAD examinations qualification.

The Academy has received numerous trophies and accolades from the Director of the AAD for reaching an exceptionally high standard in examinations, medal test work and at the Awards Day held in Blackpool annually.
