Janine Clark - AAAD, MAAD, TMAG.
Founder and Principal Teacher
Taught by her mother, Janine started dancing at the age of five and went on to gain sufficient qualifications to assist with her mother's school, the Grace Freeman School of Dancing. Janine completed her examinations in 1977 and has since progressed to Associate Teacher within the Association of American Dancing (AAD), whose syllabuses are taught at the Loughborough Academy of Dance (LAD). Her mother retired in March 1978 and Janine founded the LAD (then known as Janines School of Dancing) in September of that year with just five pupils.
Victoria Darwin - MAAD (ST), MMAG, Nat. Dip. (MT)
Victoria is the daughter of Janine Clark, Principal of the LAD, and has been dancing since the age of two. She has completed all of the major examinations with the AAD and is currently a Student Teacher, studying for Associate certification. After completing her A levels, Victoria was awarded a scholarship at Stella Mann Stage School, graduating in 2007 with the National Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre. She was an Associate member of Covent Garden's Urdang Academy and has danced with the LAD at venues such as The London Collesium, Blackpool Opera House and Buxton Opera House and has returned to the LAD following the completion of professional Theatre and Dance contracts. Victoria's daughter is now dancing, so now 4 generations are involved in the school.
Claire Bateman B.A. Hons. Dance and Performing Arts.
Claire started dancing at the age of two, she danced and was involved with amateur dramatics and professional theatre as a teenager progressing to take a BTEC National Diploma in performing arts and then a BA (Hons) degree in performing arts majoring in dance. Claire taught workshops freelance and then at a local dance school until it’s closure, bringing her and her children to the LAD over 10yrs ago ! As well as teaching Claire can also be found still dancing with the adult tappers and senior open classes.
Sophie Fessey MMAG MAAD (ST)
Sophie has been dancing with the LAD since the age of 8 and has completed many exams. At 16 Sophie studied musical theatre gaining a level 3 extended diploma in performing arts. After college Sophie auditioned to be a Redcoat at Butlins and successfully gained employment at the resort in Bognor Regis dancing, hosting shows and performing character work. In 2017 Sophie returned back home and back to LAD to continue with her major exams and the rest of her student teacher exams in Tap, Ballet and Acro.
